As opportunistic predators, sharks capitalize on the abundance of prey species that inhabit these waters. Thus, maintaining a delicate balance within the ecosystem.

The shallow, brackish waters of the Everglades play a crucial role in the lemon shark’s life cycle. Acting as a natural nursery, these protected areas offer sanctuary to juvenile lemon sharks. Furthermore, shielding them from larger predators while they grow and develop. The presence of nurseries ensures the continuity of the shark population, contributing to the park’s ecological harmony.
